Last week we just did a 2 day film job for Recco avalanche safety systems www.recco.com. Spending 2 days up on the snowfields in avalanche debris in the middle of summer isn’t your average day especially in mid 30 C weather. Check out some of the shots from the shoot with heli aerials and the Recco detector.

Oakley/Chatter Ck. shoot

April 7th, 2010

Oakley contacted me back last Fall 2009 about helping them scout and organize a shoot they wanted put together. Turns out it was with 2 of the best snowboarders on the planet Nicolas Mueller and Jake Blauvelt. We are here at Chatter Creek Cat Skiing, one of Canada’s best snow cat backcountry operations filming a TV show based on Jake Blauvelt’s endless winter as well as a film segment for Absinthe Films and editorial stories in Snowboarder magazine and many others.
So far our shoot has been flawless with great winter conditions and some favorable weather. Despite some poor snow stability which has grounded our hopes of bringing in a helicopter we still have full reign of the area with snowmobile and snowcat support. We even have some explosives to test out snow slopes in question.
Oakley, Absinthe Films and Friday Productions are definitely g m WCP’s expertise in hard to reach spots and mountain logistics.

2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies

March 10th, 2010

Way back in May WCP was contacted by Warren Miller films to help service a production they were working on in the Whistler Mtn. area. It was quite hush hush and most crew and cast thought it was a commercial but as it turned out it was a portion of the beginning of the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics. The segment was a film snowboard beauty sequence with the ultimate finale of a live snowboarder jumping through the Olympic rings into the stadium to welcome the world. Special note: WCP’s co-owner Shin Campos was one of the snowboarders in the film and one of the 3 picked to possibly jump into the stadium. Another of the athletes “Kevin Sansalone” was injured on set so it was left with Shin and Johnny Lyall to ore opening night to choose who was to jump. Shin lost the coin toss and Johnny was the guy who kicked off the party.
Whistler Creek Productions is proud to have a hand in this legendary opening of the games and to also show the world what British Columbia and Canada has to offer for scenery and snow when it comes to outdoor productions.

WCP’s Olympic Coverage

March 2nd, 2010

Sorry we didn’t post this sooner but we have been working day and night to produce webisodes for both Whistler-Blackcomb and Sympatio.ca. We have been releasing an episode every day since the games began and they give you a pretty good idea what it is like to be in Vancouver/Whistler during this amazing time.

You can find the Whistler-Blackcomb series “Game On” – here

You can find the Smpatico series “The Real 2010″ – here

WCP and Google

February 10th, 2010

WCP had the pleasure of working with Google to shoot the video for and produce a news event for the launch of their “snow view” service. Google has rigged their famous street view camera onto a snowmobile and logged the ski runs of Whistler and Blackcomb mountain. Thanks to Dusty, Laura, Tamara and Dan from Google for being such a pleasure to work with!
