Christian Begin / Director of Photography

Reel: Aerials

Commercials: Whistler / Rossignol / American Express

Music Video: Ambushed

Movie: Carts of Darkness / Warren Miller - Epic Conditions

Bio

Christian began his filmmaking career 20 years ago. As a sherpa and keen understudy for director Bull Heath, he carried a 16mm camera package on a Warren Miller ski shoot in the Kooteny mountains of British Columbia.

After learning the craft of shooting film, he was then hired to travel the world as the main cinematographer for two of the most prominent ski and snowboard film companies at the time: Greg Stump and Aventuroscope Films.

In 1995, he shot and directed Locomotion. It was an overnight success. Finalist at the prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival and feature on the festival world tour, the film was intricate in launching the young filmmaker's career. As a result, Powder Magazine wrote a feature article about him and awarded Locomotion the highest score in their ski movie review. In addition, Christian was awarded best new ski filmmaker at the Crested Butte International Film Festival in Colorado.

In 1997, he founded Radical Films. The three Kranked movies that he directed revolutionized mountain biking and was internationally acclaimed to bring extreme free riding to the world. Many projects later he sold his share of the company to expand his horizon as a freelance director and DOP.

Since then, Christian has been in high demand working on commercials, feature films, short films, documentaries, TV shows, corporate and promotional films.

Most recently, Christian has been involved in a diverse array of projects: action director / DOP for Ski Bums, an NFP feature / documentary film; second unit cinematographer for the Fantastic 4 feature film; director / DOP of a Parcs Quebec commercial; director of a Quick Silver theatre commercial and cinematographer for an American Express commercial with olympic gold medal snowboarder Shaun White.

Christian is presently wrapping up as DOP for Carts of Darkness, another NFB feature / documentary film to premiere at the Whistler Film Festival in November

His playground is now Squamish, BC, where he lives with his partner, daughter, and his many toys.

Anthony Vitale / Director of Photography

Reel: October 2008
Timelapses: Timelapse Reel

Bio

Born on December 2nd, 1968 in Toronto, Ontario, Anthony's stay in Canada was short lived before moving to Miami and spending his formative teen years in the sun. At 19 Anthony returned to his hometown to skateboard and eventually started shooting stills of his friends and other prominent skateboarders in the area.

The long winters found Anthony looking for something to do when it was too cold to shoot skateboarding so he focused on a 'new' winter action sport. Snowboarding. A move to Whistler, British Columbia in 1992 solidified his future immortalizing snowboarding on film. His knowledge of shooting film translated directly to the 16mm format when the production company that graced the snowboard world with the cult classic 'Whiskey' films, asked him to shoot for them. After cutting his proverbial teeth capturing snowboarding's early days for the 'Whiskey' series, Anthony shot for Jamie 'Mouse' Mosberg's production company, High Voltage from 1996 through 1999. Titles that Anthony had a hand in filming during this tenure included Milk, Golden Circle and 1999. January of 2001 brought Mike McEntire, the infamous 'Mack Dawg', knocking on his door and after a short trip to Japan Anthony was drafted to film full time for the most prestigious production company in snowboarding.

By 2004 Anthony was one of the most heavily sought after cinematographers in action sports and was the first choice when cinematographers were needed to shoot the much anticipated Forum team snowboard film. With Anthony's help 'True Life' became the most successful snowboard film to date. Shortly thereafter Whiteout Films approached him to take on the DOP position for their first film about snowboarding. Anthony couldn't pass up the opportunity to work close to home with some of the good friends and great talent he had met thus far in his career and ended up producing, directing and being DOP for 'The Big Blind' in 2005, and then producing and being DOP for 'Wear it Well' and 'Season 4', the 2006 and 2007 releases from Whiteout Films.

Since first picking up a camera in his Miami highs school, Anthony has been extremely busy searching the globe for dramatic scenes and shots that tell the stories of his travels and the action sports subculture he has immersed himself in. Very well respected and a true asset to any production company Anthony continues to shoot snowboarding from his home base in Brackendale, British Columbia.
